A CAREER expert is claiming that the “hidden job market” is real, stating that over 60% of jobs are not advertised.

Posting on TikTok, the woman in the video is giving tips on how to speak to the right people and learn about the hidden jobs.

The post was shared under the domain @lvlupcareer and gives lots of helpful tips to those looking to find a new role.

Answering the question “what is something important that you have told someone, but they refuse to believe you?” the woman said, “that the hidden job market is so real.”

“Over 60% of jobs are never officially posted online, and the only way that you can learn about them is if you network, or if you know somebody who works in the company” she added.

As she knows that these options are not available to everyone, the woman gives a list of tips to anyone can use on LinkedIn.

“But here’s a couple of tricks on LinkedIn that you can use to find the right people. Go on LinkedIn and type ‘hiring’ and the role you’re looking for” she said.

Adding: “Then filter by post. A lot of hiring managers will post about role’s you are looking for, they will never actually post it on the website.”

Another tip she gives is to filter by industry, with the aim of finding a post that looks interesting.

“Message the hiring manager and ask to learn more about the role and share your qualifications,” she said.

The post has been viewed over 617k times and TikTok users have been quick to comment.

“Networking in person is stressful to introverts, this seems easier to start out with” commented one person.

Another added: “’ I’ve been on indeed all my life until I got on LINKEDIN and got a job that changed my life after 2 months of making my profile.”

“It’s not about what you know, who you know instead! I learned it in a hard way” added a third.
