Crash 4 and Star Wars Squadrons fail to beat N.Sane Trilogy and Fallen Order boxed sales

[ad_1]

Crash Bandicoot 4 was the best-selling boxed game in the UK last week, narrowly beating Star Wars Squadrons to the UK chart top spot.

But neither game beat the last game in their respective franchises – both boxed sales totals were down around 80 per cent.

There’s always the digital factor in play – download sales are still not counted by UK numbers company Chart-Track – and it’s likely slightly more sales will be digital in 2020, even for mass market games like Crash.

But it’s also true to say Crash 4 doesn’t have quite the same nostalgic pull as the huge-selling N.Sane Trilogy, while Squadrons is less of a blockbuster release than Respawn’s Jedi: Fallen Order.

In Eurogamer’s Crash 4 review, our Chris Tapsell wrote it “brushes up against the better parts of the originals, but also gets surprisingly close to the idea you have of them in your head. A flawed gem, but no less brilliant.”

The rest of the top 10 is filled out with the usual evergreen Nintendo Switch games, while Marvel’s Avengers sales also continue to trickle in.

Here’s the top 10 in full:

  1. Crash 4
  2. Star Wars: Squadrons
  3. Super Mario 3D All-Stars
  4. Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  5. Marvel’s Avengers
  6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  7. Minecraft Dungeons
  8. Minecraft (Nintendo Switch)
  9. Mafia: Definitive Edition
  10. Mafia Trilogy
