Metroid Prime Remastered is second biggest physical game of 2023 – Games charts 4 March

Although it just missed out on number one, the delayed physical release of Metroid Prime Remastered has been of the series’ most successful ever.

Despite launching a month after the game was released digitally, and suffering stock shortages, Metroid Prime Remastered has come within a thousand copies of knocking Hogwarts Legacy off the UK number one spot.

Not only that but it managed to become the fourth fastest selling entry in the entire Metroid franchise and the second highest physical launch of the year, behind Hogwarts but ahead of Dead Space and Fire Emblem Engage.

The news bodes well for Nintendo’s future plans for the series, but it wasn’t all good news for this week’s new releases, with Koei Tecmo’s Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, making a disappointing start at number eight.
