Samsung announces Unpacked event where it will reveal Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Fold 2

Samsung has announced that its Galaxy Unpacked event will be taking place next month.

It is expected the company will reveal its Galaxy Note 20 devices, as well the next generation of foldable phone, at the event scheduled for 5 August.

Samsung’s announcement video reveals little information, although the colour used does match up with leaks that were seen previously this week.

A Russian version of Samsung’s website reportedly posted the Note 20 Ultra in a “mystic bronze” colour on their website.

The S-Pen – the stylus which slots into the smartphone – comes in the same colour.

Another leak showed that the Note 20 Ultra will have a smaller cutout for the front camera and what appears to be a quad-camera array, including a ToF (time of flight) sensor on the back.

With the phone one month from release, it is unclear what specs the device could have aside from the expected processor upgrade.

An FCC (Federal Communications Commission) filing by Samsung suggests that the device will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, or potentially the as-yet unannounced Snapdragon 865 Plus processor.

It will also likely have 5G capabilities, via Qualcomm’s X55M modem, and support wireless charging.

Other rumours imply that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will have a 6.9-inch display with a 3,040-by-1,440 pixel resolution, likely with a 120Hz refresh rate like that we’ve already seen on the Galaxy S20 Ultra – as well as competing Android smartphones.

With regards to Samsung’s seuqal to its Galaxy Fold, reports suggest the device will be called the Galaxy Fold 2 or Galaxy Z Fold 2.

It could have a larger size, an 8-inch display, an 108MP camera, ultra-thin glass, 5G compatibility, a stylus, and the same Snapdragon 865 processor the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra includes.

While the pricing of both device ranges are as yet unknown, it is expected the second Fold will cost around £1,900.
