When the likes of SpaceX and Virgin Galactic finally get their acts together and make space tourism a real thing we’ll now have a luggage bag for the occasion.

That’s right, we’ll be packing a spare spacesuit into this techy concept suitcase designed by luggage company Berlin.

Berlin’s in-house design team Horizn Studios partnered with Nasa to come up with a cool concept for the spacehopping travellers of tomorrow.

The resulting case has a graphene-enhanced carbon fibre shell, meaning it would weigh only 900g, and is designed to fold flat when not in use.

It’s also got an electromagnetic baseplate so it can be secured to floors or walls in zero gravity and will even charge your space phone through an inductive charging field.

And, naturally, there’s a built-in video screen for teleconferencing with Earth-based friends and family.

To design the collection, Horizn worked closely with 18-year-old astronaut-in-training Alyssa Carson.

The case is expected to be commercially available by 2030, in line with companies such as Virgin Galactic and Space X launching space tourism programmes.

Whether or not we’ll be able to afford the astronomical price tag that’s sure to accompany a ticket remains to be seen.
