Hamburg stabbing: '17 injured' in knife attack at major train station


A knife attack in Hamburg, Germany left several people injured as police swarmed the scene.

At least 17 people were injured on Friday evening following a major incident at Hamburg Central Station in the north of the country on Friday, the local fire department has said, as per The New York Times.

A spokesperson said four of them are in critical condition, and all the victims had gone to hospital. Initial reports had suggested eight people and then 12 people had sustained injuries in the incident. Police had cautioned that there are no reliable figures for the number of victims.

Police said they had arrested the suspect, a 39-year-old woman. Hamburg Police said in a post on X: “According to initial findings, a person allegedly injured several people with a knife in the main station. The suspect was arrested by police.”
