The education secretary, Gavin Williamson, has said secondary schools will be closed to most pupils for the first two weeks of term and both primaries and secondaries in areas worst hit by Covid could remain closed for longer. He also announced staggered openings for colleges and universities, plans for mass testing and support for learning from home
