Eurovision's Graham Norton had body part removed after lying about illness

Graham Norton, the beloved Eurovision presenter, once underwent a completely unnecessary operation. Recounting the tale on the TV show Unforgivable, he recalled wanting to skip school and feigned illness. The BBC favourite, 62, told his mum he had been suffering from a stomach ache and was quickly rushed to the doctors where the presenter was told he would need to undergo an operation. Recalling the moment, he shared: “When I was seven or eight, I didn’t want to go to school so I started saying: ‘Ow, I’ve got tummy ache.'”

His ruse led him to the doctor’s office where, despite his act, he was diagnosed with appendicitis and scheduled for surgery. Graham, caught in his own web of deceit, opted for the operation rather than admitting the truth, revealing: “I then thought I was really f***** because either I have an operation I don’t need or I tell the doctor there’s nothing wrong with me and there will be two very angry adults. So I had the operation!”

The TV icon only recently came clean to his mother about the childhood incident.

In more recent health news, Graham appeared at the BAFTA Awards sporting a black sling due to a fresh shoulder surgery.

While chatting on Scott Mills’ Breakfast Show, he joked about his recovery, saying: “This is my left shoulder’s first appearance on radio, (it’s) a brand new shoulder. It’s less than two weeks old.”

He is also taking medication to manage the post-surgery pain, reports the Daily Star. “It feels a bit new, it’s a little owie (painful), but forgive me, I’m on many, many medications right now, so if I say anything bad, it’s not my fault!”.
