Coronation Street’s Rebecca Ryan has joyously welcomed her second child into the world.
The actress, famed for her role as Lydia Chambers on the iconic soap, announced the arrival of her daughter Oriana with husband Dan Acraman, two years after their first child Aurora was born.
Taking to Instagram to share the delightful news, she introduced her “little girl gang’s” latest addition, Oriana, to her followers, saying: “Introducing the newest member of my little girl gang, the adorable Oriana.”
Oriana, a name steeped in Latin heritage, shares its golden connotations and dawn-related meanings with her sister’s name, Aurora, both hailing from the Latin ‘aurum’ for gold and ‘oriens’ for dawn or sunrise.
Her brother Jack Ryan, who graced the ITV soap as Jacob Hay, couldn’t resist expressing his admiration, commenting: “Proof that the first time wasn’t a fluke, you make the most beautiful babies.”, reports the Mirror.
Fellow Corrie stars were quick to congratulate her, with Sally Carman exclaiming: “She’s beautiful! Congratulations to you both!” and Elle Mulvaney adding: “congratulations she is beautiful.”
Rebecca, 34, is also known for her roles in other popular series such as Waterloo Road, Casualty, and Shameless. She had previously teased fans with snapshots of her growing bump, humorously noting: “Sleeps overrated anyway, here comes baby No.2” accompanied by a red heart emoji.
Rebecca has been joyfully showcasing her lovely family snaps with their firstborn on social media since welcoming the little one in 2023. Last April, she posted charming photos of her baby girl celebrating her first milestone birthday.
The heartfelt caption on Instagram read: “My darling girl Aurora, where has this year gone? The immeasurable joy and love you have brought into my life is something I will be forever thankful for. Your cheeky smile lights up every room, and I just love watching you grow and change every single day. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Happy 1st birthday my girl.”
With their second bundle of joy on the way, Rebecca’s brood – which includes her soap star brother – continues to flourish. Fans were gobsmacked upon discovering that Rebecca and Jack were siblings when she joined the cast of the ITV series mere months after he began his stint as Jacob.
Officials at the soap opera were caught off guard themselves by the sibling revelation once the two had both landed significant roles. Rebecca recounted to The Mirror: “Nobody at ‘Coronation Street‘ had any idea. When I joined, I’d be talking to people and say, ‘Oh, yeah, my brother works here’. And they’d go, ‘Really, who’s your brother? What? Jack!’ It’s a dream come true to be working on the show at the same time, but it’s a total coincidence.”
