Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic looks set to surprisingly turn down a move to his ex-team AC Milan in favour of a switch to fellow Serie A side Napoli.
Ibrahimovic has been without a club since leaving LA Galaxy last month, and looked set to re-join the team where he spent two seasons between 2010-2012.
However, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato Ibrahimovic could be tempted by a shock move to Napoli if his former Milan teammate Gennaro Gattuso takes over as manager of the club.
The two were teammates during Ibrahimovic’s spell at Milan and are said to have a good relationship, and with Carlo Ancelotti under pressure at Napoli Gattuso is being lined up as his possible replacement.
Ibrahimovic is also thought to be disappointed with the wage he has been offered by Milan, and believes he is worth more than the salary that has been presented.
The outspoken forward was at one point linked with a move to Tottenham to link up with his former boss Jose Mourinho, but the Portuguese manager ruled out that possibility.
He was also rumoured to be interesting Bologna, but their director Walter Sabatini said: “Ibrahimovic will not be coming to Bologna. He has made other choices”, suggesting the player already knows his next destination.
After announcing his departure from Galaxy he posted on social media and said: “I came, I saw, I conquered. Thank you LA Galaxy for making me feel alive again. To the Galaxy fans- you wanted Zlatan, I gave you Zlatan. You are welcome. The story continues… Now go back to watch baseball.”
He scored an impressive 53 goals in 58 appearances at the club, but failed to win a title.
