Zinedine Zidane has strongly denied claims that he has already told his Real Madrid squad that he plans to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

According to reports, the Frenchman informed his players that he doesn’t want to continue as manager after last weekend’s costly 2-2 draw with Sevilla.

Although Madrid have won their two following games – victories away at Granada in midweek and Athletic Bilbao on Sunday – the La Liga title is still in the hands of Atletico Madrid.

Diego Simeone’s league leaders came from behind to beat Osasuna on Sunday to set up a dramatic final day of the season next weekend.

Atleti, who play Real Valladolid next weekend, are currently two points ahead of Madrid, who can snatch the title if they beat Villarreal and their city rivals drop points.

Speaking after the win over Bilbao, Zidaine addressed the reports and insisted his focus is fully on their last game.

‘He said: ‘How could I tell the players I’m leaving now? We’re giving our everything for the title and I just say ‘by the way, I’m off’?’

‘People outside the club can say whatever they like, but I would never, ever say that to my players.’

‘At the end of the season, then we’ll see what happens, but right now we’re focused on our final game,’ he added.

‘We can’t just keep talking about my future. The last game of the season is far more important than that.’
