Zara Holland stuck in Barbados hotel ahead of today's court hearing

Zara Holland remains in her Barbados hotel room as she awaits today’s court hearing.

The Love Island star is due to appear in court later today after being charged with allegedly breaching the Caribbean nation’s Covid-19 rules.

She and boyfriend Elliott Love were said to have been stopped at the airport attempting to leave the island after he had tested positive for the bug.

Zara could face a fine of up to $18,000 and a year-long jail sentence, while Elliott remains at the Paragon Isolation Centre.

She has since tested negative and been able to leave the facility.

The Sun previously reported that Zara’s court date comes a week after another tourist was sentenced to six months for a similar alleged breach.

And Zara has since issued a heartfelt apology via a representative of her family to Barbados Today – after she was released from the Paragon Centre – for the “massive mix up and misunderstanding.”

She said: “I firstly wish to apologise to the entire country of Barbados for what has been a massive mix up and misunderstanding during my most recent stay.”

Zara added: “I am currently working closely with the local authorities to rectify any issues on my part and will issue an update and full statement which I think is the only right thing to do to the Government and citizens of Barbados.
