Zac Efron has revealed he is healing from surgery after tearing his ACL.

The 31-year-old star shared on Friday he tore the ligament in his knee while skiing, and had to have surgery to repair the injury.

Taking to Instagram the former teen star said: ‘I tore my ACL shredding the gnar but all is good. I opted for surgery so I can come back stronger than ever. Thank you to Dr. Kvitne and his team at Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center.’

And to re-assure worried fans, he added: ‘I’ll keep you updated as I heal and progress! Thanks for all the love and positivity!’

Keeping still to recover may prove to be a little difficult for Zac who usually loves taking part in extreme sports – you just have to look at his Instagram feed to get your adrenaline fix if you were ever after one.

The Hairspray star enjoys weekends of sand-boarding, rock climbing and he even scales waterfalls.

It was just earlier this week that the actor rendered the internet speechless with pictures of himself and his brother poses shirtless in a waterfall.

To celebrate his bro Dylan’s birthday this week, the two decided to just casually hang out under a waterfall and wrestle.

After sharing the thirst traps with the world, social media basically broke. It could not even.

Some of his followers didn’t know how to act, with one writing: ‘It’s Dylan Efron’s birthday, but Zac gave us all a gift.’

Another wanted to reserve a special shout out for Mr and Mrs Efron and all they’ve done.

‘I just want to thank the parents of Zac and Dylan Efron for making such masterpieces,’ one ‘mirin fan wrote. ‘What an incredible job on these two creatures. Thank you for blessing this world with art.’

Another added to the commotion: ‘Someone should probably tell Zac Efron not to thirst trap with his brother…

‘…but it’s not going to be me.’

Some messages were more wholesome. Which is what the world needed: ‘This is the most amazing relationship I have seen between two brothers in my entire life.’

In the midst of the drolling online, Zac recently admitted to having ‘reservations’ about taking on the role of Ted Bundy in Ted Bundy flick Extremely Wicked, Shocking Evil and Vile, with it being undoubtedly his most intense character yet.

The 31-year-old actor told Variety: ‘Initially, I had reservations about playing a serial killer. I’ve seen people make horror films like this before, and it seems like an aggressive play to separate yourself from a perceived image.’
