A British couple are raffling off a school bus they bought and renovated over the last year, and the winner will get something very unique.

Lucy Stevens, 31, and her partner Glen Carloss, 34, live in Surrey, and purchased the bus before lockdown, with it arriving in March 2020 just in time for work to begin.

The pair had mentioned on their first date that they both loved the classic American school buses, and decided to take the plunge.

It was shipped from New York with a lot of work needing done to it, but now has a working shower and toilet, a cinema room, and plenty of places for a family to eat, relax, and sleep.

£50,000 was spent on the renovation, and it’s now been valued at £65,000.

Although the bus was originally going to be used by Lucy and Glen, they decided to raffle it off instead, using any profit to start another ‘skoolie’ (school bus turned into a home) project.

Raffle tickets cost £20, and as well as this bus the lucky winner will get £1000 towards their category C license which they need to drive the bus, as well as 6 months storage offered for the bus in a secure gated location in Surrey.

Lucy told Metro.co.uk: ‘This is a once in life time opportunity to own a completely one of a kind skoolie shipped all the way from New York and now fully UK registered.

‘Alternatively, why not use it as an Airbnb business in what could be the busiest year ever in the UK for holiday rentals? This unique vehicle will have everyone talking and wanting to see it.’

She’s not wrong, and the outside of the bus hasn’t been changed to keep its character.

However, when you step inside the vehicle you’re greeted by a bright and modern living space, with room for a family of four.

In the kitchen are the mod cons you’d expect, such as a hob and fridge/freezer, while the bathroom has an indoor working shower and toilet.

The main living area houses two pull-out beds, while the bedroom boasts a king size bed and a projector that pulls down turning it into a mini cinema.

There are 4,000 tickets available, and if they’re not all sold the winners will receive a share of the compensation amounting to 75% of all ticket sales.
