Xhaka drops biggest hint yet he's leaving Arsenal with next club lined up

Granit Xhaka insists Arsenal know where he sees his future as he continues to be linked with an Emirates exit.

The Swiss midfielder has been in north London for five years but looks ready to seek a new challenge.

Despite being a regular under Mikel Arteta Xhaka has been linked with a move to Roma, where Jose Mourinho has just taken charge.

Arsenal are set for a summer reshuffle following a difficult season that saw them miss out on European football.

Arteta is understood to have a hefty transfer budget and is poised to ring the changes

Xhaka was set for pastures new back in January 2020 before he was convinced to stay, but his latest comments have left little to the imagination.

“Arsenal know what I want to do… it is very beautiful here [in Rome],” he told Look.

The Gunners and Roma are believed to be haggling over a fee for the midfielder.

Xhaka is still away with the Swiss national team at Euro 2020 – they face France in the last 16 on Monday night.

However he confessed earlier this month that he was aware of speculation regarding a move to Italy.

“Of course I read the rumours too,“ he told Swiss daily Blick.

“But now I’m one hundred per cent focused on the national team. That’s more important than Arsenal or rumours right now.

“I have another two years on my contract in London and at Arsenal, they know what they have in me. When the time comes and we can, may or must talk about a transfer, I’ll be here.“

Mourinho claimed recently that Xhaka was the “main man” at Arsenal and that they were “lost” without him.

The 28-year-old has spoke in equally glowing terms about the Special One, despite his recent difficulties at Manchester United and Tottenham.

“Honestly, I didn’t hear what Mourinho said, but that makes you proud“, he said.

“Everyone knows Mourinho and what he has achieved. Mourinho knows how to win trophies. You can now see what work I have done over the past few years.“

Arteta has regularly backed his midfielder, especially after a red card in a loss against Burnley last term, but could soon be seeing him leave.
