It’s that time of year again – no one can sleep because it’s too hot.
Sadly many properties over here aren’t built to keep people cool, meaning many of us are googling ‘how to cool down’ at 2am, while lying on a cold tower.
Brits have been urged to slap on the suncream and check on elderly neighbours, who might need an extra hand.
Those most in danger from sunstroke are the elderly, people with underlying health conditions and babies and very young children.
However, one woman has highlighted an unexpectedly easily way to help people nod off when temperatures are soaring.
Believe it or not, a hot water bottle could be just the thing you need to help you have a good night’s slumber.
Sam Batterson revealed to TikTok how she cools down at night while the mercury is soaring.
She advises: “Fill your hot water bottle up with half cold water, then put it in the freezer.
“I put mine in all day.”
She then places the frozen hot water bottle under her duvet about an hour before heading to bed.
Once she’s ready for bed, she then moves the now slightly de-frosted water bottle out from under the covers and into her pillowcase.
She added: “Put it in your pillowcase, or just rest on it – it’s amazing!”
Her video went viral, with people thanking her for the useful tip.
One wrote: “Why have I never thought of this before?!?!? COLD PILLOWS. I’m so excited.”
Another person added: “I’ve been doing this all week, it’s amazing.”
However, Sam did have some warnings for those wanting to try the method.
She wrote: “Three things – 1) Please don’t do this too often as the ice can damage the seal.
“2) Only fill it 2/3s up as it expands!!
“3) Be careful of ice burns.”
