With her kids missing McDonald’s during the lockdown, one mum decided to cheer them up by making their own version of the fast food at home.

She created her own Happy Meal boxes and labelled them with ‘Mumdonalds’.

The chain announced last week that they would be closing all stores and stopping deliveries because of the coronavirus crisis.

So the mum, named Gemma, folded boxes, added words and even cut out the famous McDonald’s logo.

Her post said: ‘Anyone for a mumdonalds kids will love it.’

She joked that she was going to set up a drive-through at home.

She told others that she has a machine to cut out the boxes but advised that there are gift box templates to print and cut out at home.

Other parents love the idea so much, they’ve said they’re going to copy it.

Gemma posted the image of her pink and orange containers on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook page.

The post racked up hundreds of likes and comments and some pointed out that it’s a good way to get kids to eat healthier versions of their favourite meals.

One mum said she was going to copy the idea for her son’s birthday because they will be stuck in isolation.

One person tagged a friend and said: ‘You need to up your game with the mcdaddies!. You need to do these happy meal boxes.’

Another said: ‘That’s amazing! I shall have to try to make something like this.’
