Willian has rejected Chelsea’s latest contract offer and is now in talks with Arsenal, according to reports.

The 31-year-old’s contract is due to expire this summer and he has been unable to reach an agreement over a new deal with Chelsea.

According to The Guardian, Willian has now turned down Chelsea’s offer of a two-year deal and the club’s hopes of keeping hold of the Brazil international are now ‘receding’.

Willian is demanding a contract that runs for the next three years and The Guardian reports that Arsenal are willing to meet the winger’s request.

Arsenal are also in a favourable position because Willian is happy to remain in London and has shown no hesitation in joining a rival club.

Speaking in May, the Brazilian said: ‘If I leave Chelsea with no trouble and leaving the doors open, it would be fine to move to a rival club.’

Willian is now on course to leave Chelsea after their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Speaking last week, Willian’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, revealed that the winger already has four offers on the table.

But Frank Lampard has been to keep Willian at Chelsea as the Brazilian has been a key part of his attack during his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.

When asked about Willian’s future after Chelsea’s FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal, Frank Lampard replied: ‘It’s his decision so I haven’t got that answer.

‘He’s been a great servant for Chelsea and he’s been brilliant for me this season with his input and work ethic but if he decides to move on then we obviously will move on as well.

‘I know the situation from the club’s end so it’s his choice and I respect that.’
