The agent of Arsenal defender, William Saliba, is currently in London to hold crunch talks with technical director Edu over the Frenchman’s future at the club.

The centre-back was signed in a £30million deal from Saint-Etienne in 2019 but he’s yet to play a competitive match for Arsenal and was sent out on loan to Nice for the second half of last season.

Mikel Arteta must reinforce his defence this summer following the release of David Luiz but the Gunners look set to splash out at least £45m on Brighton defender Ben White.

That raises even further question marks over Saliba’s future and claim that the defender’s agent is in London today to hold talks with Edu about his future.

Saliba will miss pre-season after being called up for France’s Olympic squad in Tokyo and that could convince Arteta to send the centre-back out on loan once more.

Newcastle United are said to be interested in signing Saliba for the season, with Arsenal keen for the Frenchman to get some Premier League experience under his belt.

After consultation with the club, Saliba’s future will be left in the hands of the player and his representatives in choosing which team he joins next term.
