Will Ferrell reveals Christopher Walken told him he ‘ruined his life’ by making him do that famous ‘Cowbell’ skit on SNL 19 years ago

Will Ferrell worked with Christopher Walken on a ‘Cowbell’ skit for Saturday Night Live in the year 2000.

And on Thursday evening the 52-year-old comedian told Jimmy Fallon during his late night show that the 76-year-old character actor is so sick of being reminded of the famous skit that he feels it has done him in.

‘He told me, “You know, you’ve ruined my life,”‘ Will told Jimmy. Will had met up backstage with Christopher during one of his performances several years after the skit hit the air.

Walken told Ferrell: ‘People during the curtain call bring cowbells and ring them.’

Walken also told the funny man: ‘The other day I went for an Italian food lunch and the waiter asked if I wanted more cowbell with my pasta bolognese.’

Ferrell then told Jimmy: ‘And I think he was really mad at me. He had a little smile, but …’

Ferrell joked to the host: ‘From The Deer Hunter to Pulp Fiction to More Cowbell — that’s all he gets. What are ya gonna do?’

The SNL skit involved a rock band.

Blue Oyster Cult producer Bruce Dickinson instructs fictional band member Gene Frenkle, who was played by Ferrell, to use ‘more cowbell’ during the popular 1976 song  Don’t Fear the Reaper.

Also in the band were SNL vets Fallon, Chris Parnell, Chris Kattan and Horatio Sanz.

The skit seems to go on forever as it lasts six minutes.
