Wilfried Zaha ruins Ashley Young with ridiculous skill in Man Utd v Crystal Palace clash

Wilfried Zaha turned Ashley Young inside at Old Trafford on Saturday, with the Manchester United full-back probably wishing he’d stayed on the bench against Crystal Palace.

Young was brought on in the 34th minute after regular left-back Luke Shaw picked up a knock, and he was given the unenviable task of having to mark Zaha.

The winger was making his second start of the season having been left out of Palace’s Premier League opener at Everton after failing to secure a deadline day move away from the club.

Zaha, the last signing Sir Alex Ferguson ever made, seemed eager to show off a few of his trademark skills and tricks as he made his return to Old Trafford, and Young was on the receiving end.

The Ivory Coast international drove inside and then darted back onto his right foot, sending Young scurrying with him, before chopping back as the veteran full-back kept on going and fell over.

Nothing came of the attack, though Palace had taken the lead in the match just a few moments earlier.

A long ball forward was nodded on by Jeffrey Schlupp and Jordan Ayew was able to burst in behind United’s high line before slotting the ball past David de Gea.

United dominated possession in the match and had several chances to level the scores, notably in the second half when the referee pointed to the spot after Scott McTominay was brought down inside the box.

After Paul Pogba’s miss on Monday night against Wolves, Marcus Rashford was given penalty duties this time around but smashed his effort off the inside of the post and out of play.

They did find a leveller late on, with a lovely, flowing counter-attack seeing Anthony Martial play in Daniel James who curled a brilliant effort into the top corner to bag his second goal for the club.

But the celebrations were short-lived, with Pogba robbed on the halfway line and Palace breaking before Patrick van Aanholt smashed an effort right at De Gea that squirmed through the Spanish keeper and into the back of the net.
