He starred in various films throughout his career such as The Shaggy Dog, Swiss Family Robinson, The Misadventures of Merlin Jones, and beach-party productions from the mid-1960s.
He was discovered in 1954 as a 13-year-old while performing for the play Ah, Wilderness! at the Pasadena Playhouse.
After a talent agent saw him in the play, he was signed and cast in an episode of TV Reader’s Digest.
He was also cast in The Mickey Mouse Club.
According to TMZ, Kirk’s neighbor found him dead in his Las Vegas home around 8pm on Tuesday, September 28.
It is unclear what his cause of death was but no foul play is suspected.
