When is Black Friday 2020 and (the part you all want to know) what are the best deals?

Thus far, 2020 has been a bit of a disaster. Let’s not beat around the bush. But if there’s one thing that has saved us, kept us going and boosted our spirits when we needed it the most, it’s shopping. And in lieu of big Christmas parties, boozy group holidays and festive fun in the office, all of the remaining things to look forward to in the final few months of the year are, also, shopping-related. Namely Black Friday. (And Amazon Prime Day, obvs).

It might only be October (Black Friday usually falls at the end of November), but with a whole lot of time on our hands, lots of Christmas shopping to plan for (this year, we’re going all out to show our loved ones how much we care) and little else to do, we’re getting organised for Black Friday early. Preparation is key, and if you want to bag the best Black Friday deals before they sell out, it’s worth knowing what you’re going to be making a beeline for. Consider your Christmas shopping completed before December even rears its head.

Here’s everything you need to know about Black Friday 2020, including its date and the very best (anticipated) deals to shop.

When is Black Friday 2020?

This year, Black Friday falls on Friday 27th November 2020. Set your alarms. Circle the date in your diaries. Limber up. It’s set to be a BIG one.

What’s more, most big brands tend to continue their deals over the following weekend, before discounting their products further (or introducing new deals) on Cyber Monday.

What is Black Friday?

If you’re not already familiar with the concept of Black Friday, it’s essentially a day-long shopping marathon. Or weekend-long, if you count Cyber Monday. With thousands upon thousands of brands discounting their stock over the period, it’s the perfect opportunity to get your Christmas shopping done early.

You can get deals across travel, fitness, skincare, makeup, fashion and interiors from brands like Look Fantastic, Boots, Topshop, Net-A-Porter, Glossier, Trinny London, Arket, & Other Stories, Farfetch and more.

Why is Black Friday called Black Friday?

To be honest, no one is *actually* sure why Black Friday is called Black Friday – but the name originates from the USA.

There are a few theories floating around, from the idea that business retailers tend to make note of profits in black (and losses in red) to the idea that police referred to the day as “Black Friday” when they struggled to control crime and carnage which ensued as a result of large queues and amazing deals.

What are the best Black Friday deals?

Most retailers are keeping their cards *very* close to their chest this year, and won’t be revealing their Black Friday deals until the day itself. That said, we can take a look at the best Black Friday deals of 2019 for an idea of what might emerge.

Last year, there were three brands who absolutely KILLED it in the Black Friday shopping space. Cult Beauty’s Black Friday deals spanned far and wide, including 25% off Sunday Riley’s skincare gift set, incredible discounts on Huda Beauty eyeshadow palettes, £9 off Drunk Elephant’s adored daily SPF (we stocked up and have been using it ever since) and almost £20 off the complete IT Cosmeticscoveted brush collection. Glossier’s Black Friday deals 2019 were equally as fantastic – they ran a sale of 20% off absolutely EVERYTHING on site, from Boy Brow to Cloud Paint and their influencer-adored Milky Jelly Cleanser. Meanwhile, Made.com’s Black Friday deals kicked every other home retailer’s sales to the curb, with products starting from just £15. Yes, £15! They knocked £50 off one of their bestselling velvet double beds and offered brilliant savings on their corner sofas. Which, of course, every woman and her Daschund went wild for. So, if 2019 is anything to go by, we’re in for a total treat.

As always, we’ll be covering Black Friday in a big way. As and when new deals drop, we’ll be adding them to our Black Friday content. If they’re worth your money, obvs.
