When does the Wendy Williams show return?

On Monday, October 18, The Wendy Williams Show returned, but with a twist. Because of Wendy’s inability to appear on the show, various guest hosts have been taking her place throughout the season.

The show was originally scheduled to return for its 14th season on October 4, 2021.

However, the show made an announcement on Thursday, September 30, saying Wendy had a breakthrough case of Covid-19 despite being vaccinated, and it would have to be delayed.

“Wendy will not be returning with new shows on October 4,” a statement from the show read.

“She has been and continues to be under a doctor’s care and is still not ready to return to work,” the statement continued.

The statement also gave an update on Wendy’s health.

“Wendy continues to be under medical supervision and meets with her medical team on a daily basis.

“She is making progress but is experiencing serious complications as a direct result of Graves’ Disease and her thyroid condition.

“It has been determined that more time is needed before she is able to return to her live hosting duties,” it read.

“As soon as she’s ready, she will be back in her treasured purple chair,” the show said.

The statement also asked for privacy for Williams and stressed, “We want her health to be her top priority.”

Williams’ was scheduled to return but had to delay due to a Covid-19 diagnosis.

“While continuing her health evaluations, Wendy has tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19,” the show said in a statement on Instagram.

The Covid-19 diagnosis came just days before she was taken to the hospital for “psychiatric services” but she has since been released and is expected to “bounce back stronger than ever.”

When is Wendy Williams returning to her show?

While it is still unknown when Wendy Williams will be returning to the show due to ongoing health problems, the show has announced more guest hosts for the season.

Throughout November, Sherri Shepherd joined the team as a guest host, followed by Michael Rapaport.

Actor and comedian Bill Bellamy took over as host, followed by Remy Ma and Fat Joe on November 23rd and 24th.

Devyn Simone, Bevy Smith, Elizabeth Wagmeister, and Michael Yo will also be making appearances on Wendy’s show during Thanksgiving week.

Jerry Springer has also reportedly been asked to fill-in for Wendy.

Sherri Shepherd will be returning as guest host in December, with rumors that she will permanently be taking over the position in the upcoming year.

According to a source close to the show, Wendy Williams will “never” be returning.

“Sherri is the frontrunner, and staff think it’s all but a done deal with her,” the source added.

An announcement is expected to be made in January, with the idea of a “new year, new show.”

What has Wendy Williams said about returning to her show?

Some reports have questioned whether or not Wendy Williams may be suffering from early onsets of dementia, to which her brother quickly shut down.

“I try to make it up there and my dad speaks with Wendy frequently. So no, we don’t have any concerns concerning her mental state. It’s all physical,” said her brother Tommy, 54.

“We haven’t had any alerts like that and I haven’t seen anything like that or have had conversations with her that would lead me to believe that,” he added.

On November 8, Wendy took to Instagram to give her fans an update, promising she will return to her beloved purple chair in due time. “As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic,” she began her update. “I’m making progress but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected.

“I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready.

“I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there. I also want to thank Debmar-Mercury and our stations for being so understanding and supportive while I work my way back.”

Wendy concluded her Instagram post thanking her fans. “Most of all, I want to thank my fans. I have heard your prayers and comments and feel all the love!” she gushed.

“You are everything to me. I love spending my mornings with you all and I’m doing everything I can to get back to work, but right now Wendy has to focus on Wendy. I love you for watching.”

What disease does Wendy Williams have?

Back in May, Williams went on a hiatus from her talk show due to health concerns surrounding her Graves’ disease.

A spokesperson for her show told People at the time that the star had been “dealing with symptoms from her Graves’ disease, which is causing fatigue.”

She also confessed to the magazine that she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease and hyperthyroidism 19 years ago.

“I feel a hundred percent better than I was a few months ago. I had a storm going in my body is the best way I can explain it,” said Williams at the time.

“It came from me neglecting my six-month endocrinology appointment. I have Graves’ disease and hyperthyroid. If you have one you don’t necessarily have to have the other, but I have both, and I was diagnosed with both 19 years ago,” she added.
