What Alisson told Liverpool's doctor after being given shoulder injury diagnosis

Alisson Becker has revealed he told Liverpool doctors to get him match fit as soon as possible after he suffered a shoulder injury.

The Brazilian stopper suffered the injury in training ahead of the Merseysiders’ embarrassing 7-2 defeat to Liverpool earlier this month.

Alisson was expected to be on the sidelines until after the November international break but made a faster-than-expected recovery, returning to action in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Sheffield United last weekend.

Returning to first-team action earlier than expected thrilled Alisson, who said: “It’s good to be back, I’m really happy. I have the top physios on my side to accelerate the recovery process.”

The world’s most expensive goalkeeper wasn’t happy with the original diagnosis for his ailment, saying: “As soon as the doctor told me it was four-to-six weeks, I told him, ‘No, doc, we go to two or three weeks maximum’.

“He agreed and we go for it and I’m happy to be back.

“I just want to thank the physios, fitness staff, doctor and goalie coaches who helped me on this process”

Like many Reds fans, Alisson is happy his most recent injury didn’t keep him on the sidelines for a lengthy period of time.

He said: “Unfortunately we have to deal with these things; injuries, we try to avoid them and do prevention works. I’m glad it was only three weeks but it was a long three weeks, [more] like three months.

“It’s hard because you want to help, want to be involved, do what you love to do and help your team-mates go for our goals.”

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was thrilled with Alisson’s swift return to fitness, saying: “Adrian did really well, but getting Ali back is obviously a pretty big, big boost for all of us.

“It was nearly three weeks he was out, and it feels like we had 15 games in between! I was really happy when he gave the green light and said ‘yes, I’m ready’ because it was his decision.

“I cannot make the decision for him whether he feels pain when he bounces on the ground or whatever. It was his decision and he said thumbs up.”

Alisson and his Liverpool team-mates will be back in action on Wednesday night, welcoming Danish side FC Midtjylland to Anfield for their second Champions League Group D match.
