Summer signing Zouma limped off against his former club Chelsea on Saturday, and West Ham’s update on the French defender will add to their worries after Ogbonna’s injury
West Ham United’s Premier League victory over Chelsea came at a cost, with defenders Kurt Zouma and Ben Johnson both forced off with injuries during the 3-2 win.
But while Johnson’s hamstring injury is only thought to be a minor one, David Moyes’ side look set to be without Zouma for upto three months.
And he started as one of three central defenders in the 3-2 victory over his former club at the weekend, but was forced off midway through the second half after receiving treatment on a hamstring issue.
Now West Ham have provided an update on the 27-year-old, confirming that he faces a spell on the sidelines.
“A scan on Monday revealed the damage and the 27-year-old French international defender has already started his recovery programme at Rush Green under the supervision of the medical team.”

Johnson’s injury, meanwhile, was described by the club as “a low-grade hamstring strain”.
The full-back was replaced at the end of the first half by Arthur Masuaku, who went on to score West Ham’s late winner.
The London side are already without Italian defender Angelo Ogbonna, who is not expected to return this season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in the win over Liverpool in November.
And with Zouma joining his central defensive partner on the treatment table, as well as left-back Aaron Cresswell, there is increased strain on Moyes’ defensive line.
Masuaku and 20-year-old right-back Harrison Ashby were the only defensive options on the bench during the win over Chelsea, while young central defender Jamal Baptiste has been named in matchday squads this term already.
With Craig Dawson and Issa Diop the only senior centre-backs available to Moyes, West Ham could be convinced to dip into the transfer market in January as they attempt to keep up their push for a top four finish
James Tarkowski is one name who has previously been linked, with West Ham having bid for the Burnley defender back in 2020, and the 29-year-old is out of contract in 2022.
Another player linked is Manchester City defender Nathan Ake, who joined for the champions for £41m in 2020 but has started just four Premier League games under Pep Guardiola this season.
