Wendy Williams 'doing fabulous' while barefoot wearing a bathrobe and being helped to her car

Wendy Williams, 57, emerged from a Miami, Florida wellness center barefoot and wearing just a designer bathrobe on Tuesday amid her continued absence at the helm of her popular talk show.

The New Jersey native held tight to the driver of her waiting SUV, who helped the unsteady star walk from the building to duck into the vehicle.

A rotating list of guest hosts have been filling in for the ailing star on her eponymous daytime chat series while she battles a host of medical issues leading to speculation she may never return.

Stepping out with no shoes on, Wendy kept her head down while she was escorted to a black SUV outside of the wellness center.

Williams was a bit worse for the wear with her long hair left down and hanging over her eyeglasses while dressed in a $595 red Versace bath robe.

Despite her devil-may-care appearance, Wendy quipped as she left that she was ‘doing fabulous’, according to a video shared by The Shade Room.

Her appearance comes as rumors swirl about whether she will ever host The Wendy Williams Show again.

Season 13 premiered with a panel of guest hosts on October 18, including Devyn Simone, Bevy Smith, Leah Remini, Whitney Cummings, Michael Rapaport, Bill Bellamy, and Jerry Springer.

Williams bowed out of her show telling fans that she’s battling Graves’ disease and resulting thyroid issues related to it. However, rumors have been circulating that she is battling early onset dementia.

Her brother Tommy Williams Jr., 54, recently refuted those, denying that she was dealing with the condition in an interview with The Sun.

On November 9, Williams shared in an Instagram statement that it was ‘taking longer than we expected’ for her to recover.

‘I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready,’ she wrote. ‘I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there.’

Last month she was spotted looking frail in a wheelchair outside of her Manhattan home and her team said at the time that she was under medical supervision, meeting her medical team on a daily basis.

Fans who had lined up outside the Chelsea Studios in New York had already been issued with tickets and wristbands and signed appearance waivers to be part of the first show of Season 13, when a member of staff made the shock announcement that the star wasn’t coming, and filming was canceled.

‘Wendy has tested negative for Covid,’ the staffer told the disappointed crowd who had waited more than two hours for admission, ‘But her health is still not great, and she wants to be better than ever when she comes back.’

Earlier a member of staff had told fans to think up questions for the ‘Ask Wendy,’ section telling them that it was ‘her favorite’ and that she was ‘looking forward to getting all your questions.’

A statement posted on Instagram shortly after said, ‘She has been and continues to be under a doctor’s care and is still not ready to return to work.

‘We plan to return with new shows on Oct 18. Her breakthrough covid case is no longer an issue and she has tested negative, but she is still dealing with some ongoing medical issues.’

Fans who had hoped to attend the filming were sent apologetic emails offering them tickets to filming of The Nick Cannon Show instead.

Meanwhile, Sherri Shepherd is set to make a triumphant return as guest host of The Wendy Williams Show in mid-December.

The 54-year-old actress and talk show veteran will be hosting the week of December 13–17 after her stint in early November scored a significant ratings boost over previous weeks.

RadarOnline reported the same day that Williams’ production company was in the process of finding a permanent replacement, and The Sun’s insider said the top spot was ‘Sherri’s to lose’ and called her the ‘number one choice’ for the job.

Her upcoming stint, as well as Leah Remini’s two weeks of hosting prior to that, are reportedly ‘auditions’ for the host role.

‘The deal will be done in the next few weeks and announced in January,’ the source said, adding that ‘Sherri is the frontrunner, and staff think it’s all but a done deal with her.’

The publication previously reported that Nick Cannon’s show might fill Williams’ time slot, but his ratings have fallen recently, while Williams’ show has been on the upswing despite her being out of commission.

In 2019, DailyMail.com revealed that Wendy was staying overnight at a private facility run by the Pure Recovery Network in Long Island City, New York.

She had plunged into an alcohol-and pill-fueled depression when she fractured her shoulder during a confrontation with her cheating husband, Kevin Hunter.
