Thierry Henry insists he and Daniel Ek are ‘here to stay’ in their bid to complete their takeover of Arsenal.

The Arsenal legend joined former teammates Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira alongside Swedish billionaire Ek in a sensational bid to buy the club from unpopular owner Stan Kroenke earlier this year.

The takeover bid came in the wake of the club’s failed attempt to join the European Super League, with Kroenke insisting the club is not for sale.

The original offer, said to be in the region of £1.8bn, was turned down by the Kroenke family in May, with Ek later revealing he was told that the current owners ‘don’t need the money’.

And the former France striker insists that while there have been no new negotiations in recent months, they remain open to a deal.

‘To be able to progress you need someone to respond from the other side but nothing yet,’ Henry told Sky Sports when asked for an update on the takeover bid.

‘He [Ek] is here to stay, so let’s see what is going to happen. For the moment, we enjoyed the win yesterday [against Tottenham].

When asked if they is any dialogue at the moment, Henry added: ‘Not at the moment.

‘I think it’s going to be long. How long? I don’t actually know, but we are here to stay.’

Current owners, led by Stan Kroenke, took full control of the club in 2018.
