VLADIMIR Putin believes Donald Trump’s “inherent vitality and vigour” will help him beat coronavirus.

The Russian leader sent his best wishes to his American counterpart and his wife after they were both struck down.

In a telegram, Putin said: “I am sure that your inherent vitality, vigour and optimism will help you overcome the dangerous virus.”

He added that he wished the President and First Lady Melania a speedy recovery and expressed his sincere support at “this difficult moment.”

President Trump and his wife have gone into isolation at the White House and are said to be suffering “mild symptoms.”

Other get well messages for the outspoken world leader have poured in from around the world.

“My best wishes to President Trump and the First Lady. Hope they both have a speedy recovery from coronavirus,” tweeted PM Boris Johnson. 

In a pooled clip he later said he hoped they would have a “very strong recovery”.

Earlier this year Boris was hospitalised with Covid-19, and spent three nights in intensive care in the fight of his life.

At the time White House doctors phoned the hospital and offered any assistance, doctors or drugs that were needed.

However, China chose to mock the US president saying he was “paying the price” for “playing down the pandemic”.

Trump tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, which has thrown the US presidential election into chaos.

The 74-year-old now faces two weeks of quarantine, just 32 days before Americans go to the polls.

He tested positive for coronavirus along with Melania – and has vowed: “We will get through this together.”

Should the president become too ill to work, under the US Constitution he can transfer power to vice-president Mike Pence, who has tested negative.
