Virgil van Dijk leaves Holland squad due to 'personal circumstances'

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has pulled out of the Holland squad.

Van Dijk led Holland to a 0-0 draw against Northern Ireland on Saturday night as they qualified for the European Championships.

But the Dutch FA announced on Sunday that Van Dijk would play no part in the final qualifier against Estonia.

Van Dijk has left the squad due to “personal circumstances”.

Liverpool return to action after the international break against Crystal Palace as they bid to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Last weekend’s 3-1 win over Manchester City saw them go nine points clear of the champions.

Liverpool are already sweating on the fitness of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson after they all left their respective camps.

Jurgen Klopp is already without injured pair Joel Matip and Xherdan Shaqiri.

More to follow.
