Vin Scully’s wife Sandra Scully has died at 76 after battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease
Sandra Scully, the spouse of iconic Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully, has died at 76 after battling Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Sandra died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles after a yearslong battle with ALS.
‘The family appreciates everyone’s thoughts and prayers; however, they request their privacy at this time,’ a rep for the family said. Any donations should be forwarded to the Department of Neuromuscular Disease at UCLA/ALS in Sandra’s name.

The Cascade, Virginia native is survived by the Hall of Fame baseball commentator, 93, who she was married to for 48 years after they wed in November of 1973.
The couple had one child together, Catherine, and were parents to five children from previous marriages, according to the AP. They have 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Vin told the AP last summer of his wife’s health battle: ‘She is really inspirational, her faith is extremely important and I think that’s a major reason she’s held up.’
Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten in a statement, ‘We are saddened to learn of the passing of Sandi Scully, the loving wife of Vin and a dear member of the Dodger family.

‘Sandi was Vin’s biggest fan and was always there in loving support of him at Dodger Stadium until she began her battle with ALS. She was truly Vin’s and the Scully family’s rock, and she will be dearly missed.’
A number of Los Angeles sports media personalities posted memorials to Sandra, who was in the broadcast booth with Vin during his last home game in September of 2016.
‘Condolences to Vin Scully,’ sportscaster Fred Roggin said. ‘His wife Sandi of 47 years has passed away from ALS.’
‘This is devastating,’ Alanna Rizzo said. ‘My heart breaks for the entire Scully family. RIP, Sandi.’

The Athletic’s Molly Knight tweeted, ‘Sandi Scully has died after a long illness. She used to come to all the Dodger home games during the last few years of Vin’s career and sit in the booth with him. This is so sad.’
Los Angeles Angels broadcaster Mark Gubicza tweeted, ‘Sending thoughts and prayers to Vin and the entire Scully family. Sandi was always so nice to anyone who met her. Rest In Peace, Sandi. Folded hands.’
Scully retired after 67 years with the Dodgers in 2016.
