Manchester United pair Victor Lindelof and Jesse Lingard have given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a fitness boost ahead of this weekend’s clash against Southampton.

Lindelof was forced off in United’s 4-1 win against Istanbul Basaksehir with a back injury and Solskjaer was doubtful that the Swede would recover in time for the trip to St Mary’s.

The defender has battled through the pain in recent weeks and he missed the reverse fixture in Turkey as he was in too much discomfort.

However, Lindelof was in full training today as Solskjaer’s side prepare for the trip to the south coast.

There was another boost elsewhere as Lingard was able to return to the fold after self-isolating following coming into contact with a coronavirus patient.

The midfielder is yet to make a Premier League start this season and he’s been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

However, the midfielder will be available this weekend as he followed Covid-19 protocols.

Paul Pogba was not spotted in training and it’s unclear whether the Frenchman will recover from an ankle strain in time.

The midfielder trained on Monday and had hoped to play against Basaksehir but his ankle swelled up overnight, meaning he was unable to play.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was removed on the hour-mark with an ankle problem and was not spotted in training but United are hopeful that the right-back will recover in time.
