US indices mixed as European indices gain on Friday; Asia starts Monday mixed
- US indices were mixed on Friday, however closed a third consecutive week in the green. The Nasdaq closed lower especially due to weaker than expected earnings.
- European markets gained, however, Asian markets were mixed on Friday. The SGX Nifty Futures are marginally in the red early in trade today morning.
- Iron ore prices rose sharply on Friday. The Dollar index fell in trade on Friday and is flat today leading gold prices higher. Oil prices continue to inch higher.
Mumbai: All major US indices closed last week higher clocking their third straight week of gains. The S&P 500 clocked a record close to end the week. The S&P and Dow are up over 5% for the month while the Nasdaq is up 4.4%. Dow was up 0.2% on Friday and is at its highest since 16th Aug. The Dow futures are trading flat with a negative bias in early trade today. The S&P 500 fell 0.11%. Poor earnings led the Nasdaq lower by 0.82% on Friday.
European markets rose on Friday with all major indices gaining as Investor sentiment grew better.
Friday saw Asian stocks close mixed. Shares of Evergrande jumped 4.25% after it reportedly made interest payments. Asian indices have started mixed on Monday. While the Nikkei has started lower in early trade today, the ASX200 is in the green. The Kospi is flat at the start of trade today. The SGX Nifty Futures closed lower for a 4th consecutive day on Friday, down 0.56% to end the week. The SGX Nifty Futures is down a further 0.11% in early trade today.
The London Metal Index (USD) closed 1% lower on Friday. The LMEX copper and LMEX Aluminium closed marginally lower while the DCE Iron Ore was up over 4.5%. Oil has continued to inch higher to breach USD 84 a barrel while Brent closed in on USD 86 a barrel. Gold rose on a softer dollar at USD 1797 an ounce.
The Dollar index fell in trade on Friday, being in the red for 3 days of last week. The dollar index closed 0.14% lower. The Dollar index is flat in early trade today, down 3 basis points. The US 10 year treasury yields at 1.643% in early trade today. The Bitcoin is at the USD 62k mark.
