Tyson Fury shows off lean and mean new physique ahead of Anthony Joshua fight

Tyson Fury may still be playing down the likelihood of a unification fight with Anthony Joshua but the WBC heavyweight champion has got himself in phenomenal shape as he prepares to return to the ring.

AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed earlier this month that the two British boxers had signed a two-fight contract with just a venue and date now needed before the undisputed clash can be officially announced.

Fury, though, has continually played coy about progress over a deal despite negotiations ramping up but has always insisted he will fight twice in 2021 – whether it is against Joshua or not.

The Gypsy King did not look in great shape back in February when he stripped off to dive into the ice-cold sea at Morecambe bay, but barely a month later he is looking as fit as he has ever done.

A picture was uploaded on Fury’s Gypsy King official merchandise page showing the lineal heavyweight champ in incredible shape despite still being three months out from a potential summer bout with Joshua.

Fury’s lean physique is also completely at odds with a recent interview he gave in which he claimed he was drinking 12 pints of lager a day and doing no training, which suggests his mind games with Joshua have already begun.

‘I’ve stopped training now, I’m on holiday, I‘m doing anywhere between, eight, 10, 12 pints or lager a day at the minute. Not eating though so I’m getting my calories through alcohol,’ he told IFL TV just a few weeks ago.

‘There’s nothing to do, is there? I’ve done training, training, training with no further process. It’s one of those things, at the minute I’m just chilling out, being a man of leisure in lockdown.’

Joshua was expecting Fury – who looked lean and mean for his rematch with Deontay Wilder last year – to get back in shape but the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champ would never have expected it to happen so soon.

Speaking to Seconds Out in February, Hearn said of Fury’s beach video: ‘I said to AJ the other day, “Did you see Fury jumping in the sea? He looked like me!”

‘The response from AJ was, “We’re gonna get the best Tyson Fury, so I don’t care if he’s carrying a bit of extra weight now, I’m training for the best ever Tyson Fury.” And, make no mistake, Fury will be in top shape for this fight.’
