TRNSMT 2021 kicks off at Glasgow Green as revellers queue with rapid flow tests at gates


TRNSMT festival 2021 kicked off with a bang as revellers flooded the gates of Glasgow Green from 11am for the first of a three day music extravaganza.

The cloudy skies and occasional showers didn’t dampen the music lovers spirits as they passed by the flag sellers in Glasgow’s High Street and dressed in a colourful combo of neon tie dyed and denim shorts, tshirts, bucket hats and cross body bags.

As Sport Team took to the stage a winding queue of party people scrambled into the festival flashing their tickets and phones to security who checked their covid rapid flow test results before the were allowed in.

The sniffers dogs were out to catch any contraband at the entrance and anti bac was on hand before the early birds could explore the grounds, the food stalls and of what was for many their first music event since lockdown – or indeed ever.

The atmosphere was full of anticipation and the excitement was palpable as the stage lit up for the start of the much awaited festival.

Music fan Tom Keegan who was making his way in wearing his black and yellow neon top told The Daily Record: “I’m looking forward to The Lathams, Sports Team, Sam Fender and Blossoms.

“I saw a gig last week but I’m buzzing to be back at a proper festival.”

TRNSMT reveller Tom Keagan gets ready for fest

West Lothian and Bathgate pals Anais, Amy, Mhairi, Millie, Finn, and Olivia caught the bus through to TRSNMT and said they had been a bit scared to come to their first event since covid lockdown but were more excited than anything.

Finn said: “We love Sam Fender and The Courteneers and just can’t wait to see them.”

Mhairi says we were a little bit scared but we feel quite safe.



West Lothian and Bathgate gals arrive at TRNSMT

Amy added: “There’s a lot of precautions. and we’re just going to take a look round and visit the bar just now.”

As the house gospel choir took to the stage the deep rhythms and soulful voices provided the feel good start to the day that everyone needed.
