Mikel Arteta insists Arsenal’s transfer business is far from complete as he told fans they can “relax” over the future of captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners have signed playmaker Willian on a free transfer from Chelsea, while also spending a £22million initial fee on Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

Despite their known financial struggles, summed up by the fact the club made 55 redundancies last month, Arsenal continue to be linked with moves for the likes of midfielders Daniel Partey and Houssem Aouar.

Arteta, who was promoted from head coach to first-team manager on Thursday, did little to quell speculation about future signings as he confirmed they are hopeful of more arrivals before the window closes on October 5.

“We are still active in the market, we are looking at different options,” he said on the eve of Arsenal’s Premier League opener away to newly-promoted Fulham.

“We are active in the market with players in and out, at the moment the squad balance is not ideal.

“There is still some work to do, but we have to bear in mind the complications of this market.

“The complexity and as well the timing because you can see that clubs are behaving in many different ways and it is a bit uncertain how this is going to evolve in the next few weeks.

“Numbers-wise, some positions are overbooked. Some others, in terms of the specific qualities we need, are still not there.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists the ongoing contract situation with midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is “absolutely fine”.

The Holland international is in the final nine months of his current deal and has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona to be reunited for former national team coach Ronald Koeman.

Klopp has played down the speculation but failed to provide a definitive answer on the 29-year-old’s future.

“It’s all good with Gini. Absolutely fine about the future as far as we are involved. I can’t speak about a few years, but it’s all good for the moment,” he said.

“You know the situation – between me, Gini and the club, everything is fine.

“Since Gini is here I have had 500 or 600 talks with him. Of course I’ve spoken to him since he came back from international duty. But that’s all.”

Olivier Giroud is understood to want to stay at Chelsea and fight for first-team football despite interest from Juventus.

Giroud fired his 40th goal for France in Les Bleus’ 4-2 victory over Croatia on Tuesday in warming up for the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Chelsea have launched a major squad overhaul this summer, shelling out more than £200million on a string of high-profile recruits, not least Germany striker Timo Werner.

But Giroud remains determined to continue his Stamford Bridge career, the PA news agency understands.

All three of the Everton’s new boys are set to make their debuts this weekend.

James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan joined the club this week with Carlo Ancelotti set to throw them straight in against Tottenham on Sunday.

“I think that we are happy to have these players,” he added.

“The club did a fantastic job because these players – James, Doucoure and Allan – were the priority for us.

“We were able to sign them and so we’re really happy, I think the club did a fantastic job.

“Now we are working to have a good season, we would like to be competitive in all the competitions and I think with these players the squad has improved and I think we are going to compete.

“The market is going to be closed on October 5, if there is some opportunity I think we can look for this (more signings), but honestly I am satisfied with the squad in this moment.”

Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall says he would like to add a couple of signings to his squad as they begin their Championship campaign.

“We’ve got a good squad,” he said on the club’s official website. “There are some very good players who have left the football club, players who are very difficult to replace. But we have a very good squad here and from the pre-season performances I’ve been very pleased with what I’ve seen.

“Do I want to bring in a couple of new players? Of course, you need quality players to call upon at any time. We’ve identified two or three players who we think could enhance the group but we don’t want to jump in and make any rash decisions.

“The transfer window still has a few weeks to go and we have plenty of time to bring in the right players.”

Barcelona have targeted Hector Bellerin on loan.

The Arsenal full-back is now closer to the exit after Mikel Arteta’s U-turn on the future of Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

And Marca report the Blaugrana will ask for Bellerin on loan, but could make a permanent offer if the Gunners reject that.

Their desire to add the Spaniard comes from plans to sell Nelson Semedo should an offer of around €40m arrive – Bellerin would be valued at around €30m and Barcelona would look to send a player to Arsenal of that value as their funds are limited currently.

Thomas Tuchel has ruled out a move for Matteo Guendouzi.

The Arsenal midfielder was linked with a move back to PSG, in a swap move that would have sent Julian Draxler to the Emirates.

But the German boss was blunt when probed on his interest in the French midfielder: “No, that will not happen.”
