A number of Tottenham first-team players have contacted Mauricio Pochettino in an attempt to persuade the Argentine to return to the club.

Widespread reports on Thursday morning claimed Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has spoken to Pochettino about rejoining Spurs, with Pochettino said to be keen on a reunion.

Pochettino was sacked in November 2019 after five years in north London but he only joined Paris Saint-Germain in January.

However, the Ligue 1 giants missed out on the title and were knocked out of the Champions League semi-final by Manchester City.

Beyond disappointing domestic results, Pochettino is said to be dismayed by the internal politics in the French capital and he’s been surprised by his lack of influence behind-the-scenes compared to what he enjoyed at Spurs.

Spurs finished seventh in the Premier League this term, with Jose Mourinho leaving shortly before the side’s Carabao Cup Final defeat to Manchester City.

Levy said the team’s next appointment would reflect a desire to restore the club’s values and Pochettino is still held in high regard by both the squad and supporters.

The Independent claim a selection of players have already contacted Pochettino in a bid to persuade him to return.

The Argentine was a popular figure with the club and he formed close relationships with the likes of Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane and Dele Alli.

Aside from Pochettino’s expertise, Levy is attracted by the proposition of reappointing him because it could help in the club’s bid to keep Harry Kane.

The 27-year-old has intimated he wants to leave the club this summer and has urged Levy to listen to offers to sell him.

Levy, though, has no intention of letting the England skipper go and Kane would likely be buoyed by Pochettino’s return.
