15 love to Cori
The opening day at Wimbledon saw 15-year-old Cori Gauff record a stunning 6-4, 6-4 victory over five-time champion Venus Williams.
Gauff is the youngest player to qualify for the main draw since the Open era began in 1968, but despite her tender age she had too much power for her 39-year-old opponent.
American teenager Gauff stole the headlines at the All England Club. It was “15 love” to Cori says the Metro back page, the Independent predicts “a star is born at SW19” while The Times reports that the “sky’s the limit” for a player who is tipped for greatness.
Lionesses don’t fear the US
England face the United States in the Fifa Women’s World Cup semi-final tonight and The Guardian reports that it’s the “moment of truth” for Phil Neville’s side.
Nikita Parris has warned the World Cup holders that the Lionesses have no fear going into the final four clash in Lyon (8pm, live on BBC One).
