Tinubu’s presidential campaigners inaugurate Ekiti APC parallel exco

THE National Chairman, South West Agenda for Asiwaju 2023, Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, on Thursday, inaugurated a parallel state executive committee of the All Progressives Congress, in Ekiti State.

He also said 16 governors, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, were routing for the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to join the 2023 presidential race.

Adeyeye said this while speaking shortly after the inauguration of the parallel State executive  in Ado Ekiti.

He explained that the SWAGA recognised party executives at the Ward, Local Government and State levels are the authentic party leaders.

Adeyeye said, “Since our Lagos inauguration, 15 governors said they are no longer afraid to identify with us. They are no longer afraid after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State openly supported us when we took the flag off in Lagos”.

He, however, refrained from mentioning the governors by name, he said, “They (the governors) will say that by themselves. Sanwo-Olu came out on his own, you will see others later.

“They are supporting; we have support from the overwhelming majority of the governors. I don’t want to say more than that”, the SWAGA leader said.

The SWAGA boss expressed confidence that Tinubu would be the next president, just as SWAGA would present Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi’s successor in office.

The SWAGA national chairman described the APC state congress held on Saturday as a waste of time.

According to him, the purported ward and local government executive committee members allegedly elected earlier by a faction of the party lacked legitimacy.

While congratulating the SWAGA-backed ward and local government executives, he said, “These ward and local government committees that were inaugurated today (Thursday) are the authentic APC executives in Ekiti.

“The party at the national level brought out guidelines that members should come out and queue to vote for the ward and local government congresses, but those at the other side did not come out. They were inside a room concocting names under the guise of consensus.

“But SWAGA members filed out. We have the video clip that we will present. The purported state congress they did on Saturday, October 16, is a nullity and a complete waste of time. We know what we did for Governor Fayemi to win in 2018, he could not have won on his own, because he has no popularity.

“I know that they can’t buy you with money, you are for SWAGA. This (Fayemi) government is finished, don’t let them deceive you with positions. Only members of Fayemi’s Tokantokan group are enjoying the dividends of what we did, others are sidelined.”

In response, the state APC Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, said, “I think they are just entertaining themselves. I think Adeyeye is just trying to create a semblance of protest or resistance to a very peaceful and credible congress that took place last Saturday.

“When you got there, did you see any representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission or the representative of our party from Abuja. It is very unfortunate that somebody of Adeyeye’s stature can embark on a jamboree.”
