Tina Malone ‘s had her share of ups and downs over the years but no one can ever accuse her of being boring.
She’s regularly hogged the headlines with her outrageous antics from her total body makeover to her drug scandal in 2017.
The former Shameless actress, 55, is back in the news again today after revealing she’s facing jail over a tweet she sent out last year.
Here are a few of her most controversial moments.
Best known for her roles in Channel 4 soap Brookside and hit drama Shameless, Tina found herself back in the spotlight when she underwent a total body makeover.
Tina lost more than seven stone after having a gastric band fitted.
She had embraced a healthy new diet and took up exercise at a fitness bootcamp, where she met a hunky personal trainer who caught her eye.
It wasn’t long before she started dating super-fit toyboy Paul Chase and they tied the knot in 2009.
He was 28 at the time – the same age as Tina’s daughter Danielle from a previous relationship – and she was 47.
Married life didn’t run smoothly for the pair as Tina was declared bankrupt in 2012.
However, she refused to let their money troubles get her down and Tina stunned fans with her next big announcement.
In 2013, the actress confirmed she was pregnant at 54 after undergoing IVF.
The baby news came just 18 months after she became a gran for the first time when her daughter Danielle welcomed her first child.
Tina went on to become a mum to a little girl she named Flame, who arrived later that year.
As well as focusing on life as a new mum, Tina continued with her role in the spotlight with regular TV appearances.
However, she was dealt a major blow in 2017 when she was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
Tina was was appearing in a panto at the time and was later sacked from the production of Cinderella.
She was cautioned by police for possession and later insisted the drugs had been planted in her bag.
The actress said: “I swear on my daughter’s life I’d never take drugs in front of children or while performing.
“I told police it was a set-up but I took the caution because of Flame. She’d only just watched me on stage…
“To be honest, I’d have admitted to being Jack the Ripper right there and then to get back to her.”
Tina had been keeping a fairly low-profile after the drug bust, but today she found herself at the centre of controversy once again over a tweet sent last year.
She is being hauled to the High Court court over claims she shared an alleged picture of James Bulger’s killer Jon Venables.
His identity is protected by a lifelong High Court injunction banning anyone from posting pictures claiming to be of him of fellow killer Robert Thompson.
If she is found to have breached the order, Tina could land two years in jail or an unlimited fine even if the photo in the post was not actually of the convinced murderer.
Venables and Thompson abducted James, two, from a shopping centre in Bootle, Merseyside and brutally tortured him to death in 1993.
At the time of her tweet last year, Malone told the Daily Star : “I didn’t have a clue it was illegal.
“What are you going to do … prosecute me for posting a picture? I didn’t realise.“I am not au fait with the law.”
