Time summer transfer window shuts for Premier League clubs

Despite no crowds since March and reduced revenue, Premier League clubs have still spent huge amounts of money during the summer transfer window.

This year the transfer window has remained open into the autumn as a result of the 2019/20 season not finishing until the last weekend of July.

Since then, most clubs have been busy welcoming new players and saying goodbye to others.

Chelsea have spent more than £200million on new players, bringing in the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy – while Liverpool have also splashed out in recent weeks on the likes of Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota.

For those clubs looking to make some more signings before the transfer window closes, they don’t have long left.

Premier League clubs have until 11pm on Monday (October 5) to make new signings.

However, Premier League clubs can still do business after Monday, with certain limitations.

An extra domestic transfer window will be open until 5pm on Friday October 16, allowing players to move from the EFL to Premier League, and vice versa.

However, uring that time, players cannot switch from one Premier League club to another, or arrive from/depart to foreign clubs.

EFL clubs can also trade amongst themselves until October 16.

So all top-flight business and international transfers must be done by the end of October 5.

Clubs that have qualified for the Champions League or Europa League – Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Leicester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur – also have to register their squads by Tuesday October 6.

Serie A clubs in Italy cannot do business after 7pm on Monday.

North of the border, Scottish Premiership clubs have until midnight to sign players.

The deadline day for other leagues includes:

Eredivisie (The Netherlands) – October 6
