Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller admits he would be open to leaving the club this summer after Thiago Alcantara showed there’s life away from the Allianz Arena.

The Spanish midfielder shocked the Bundesliga giants by reneging on a promise to sign a new deal in 2020.

Bayern felt compelled to sell the former Barcelona star and accepted a £25million bid from Liverpool, with Thiago moving to Anfield at the age of 29.

Muller came close to joining Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United in 2015 in a deal worth around £75m, while the German looked certain to leave last year after his struggles under Niko Kovac.

The forward has since re-established himself in Bavaria but Muller insists he’s open to leaving the club, who he joined at the age of 10.

‘I am not fixed to this club,’ Muller told the Times.

‘I have a special relationship, I love Bayern before I started playing for them.

‘But when there is a situation where you have to decide maybe to play for a different club.

‘It would be no shame and no problem at all. Maybe like with Thiago (Alcantara at Liverpool).’

Muller has won nine league titles with his boyhood club and has scored 212 goals in 571 games for the German giants.

The 31-year-old is likely entering the final summer of his career in which Bayern could obtain a large fee for the forward.

Muller signed a new deal following Kovac’s departure, which runs until 2023.
