These 4 ASOS trench coats will be everywhere this spring (and your favourite influencers have already got theirs)

We’re almost certain that there was a brief moment earlier this week that (*whispers it*) it wasn’t cold, so we’re taking that as our cue that spring is officially on its way. After all, the official start is less than a month away. Get March 20th in your diary, folks, because if there was ever a time to look for the small pleasures in life it’s right now.

But why is the arrival of spring so exciting? Not only does it mean the end of winter and the beginning of lighter, longer evenings and peony season(!), but it also means it’s time to swap our heavy duty winter coats for something a little more lightweight. Namely: the beloved trench coat.

Timeless, universally flattering and compatible with just about every outfit you already own (yes, including all those tracksuits), there are very few wardrobe staples that’ll serve you as well as a trench coat will.

And if anyone knows how to do a trench coat, it’s ASOS. Having recently launched their first spring drops, we’d be lying if we said we didn’t head straight for them. It seems we weren’t alone, though, with several of our favourite influencers having recently kicked off their spring outfit posts showing off a trench coat from ASOS’s in-house edit, with four in particular reigning supreme.

Here are the four most epic ASOS trench coats that will be everywhere this spring…

The most heavy-duty of the four, this deep, chocolate brown faux leather trench coat will not only be your go-to all spring worn atop simple white t-shirts but it’ll also serve you well come autumn/winter over cosy cream knits. ‘Cost-per-wear’, we hear you cry? We totally agree.

There is little more sartorially timeless than a classic camel trench coat, but if you’re looking for one with more of a contemporary twist then the slightly longer ankle-grazing style and black colour-block back of this number ought to be right up your street.

The most directional of the four – and seemingly, therefore, the most Instagrammable – this vinyl olive green trench coat is a real statement piece. Perfect with more low-key looks (think jeans and a tee or even your favourite black tracksuit), there’s no need to ‘dress’ this one up. It does all the talking and more.

The most aesthetically simple – and therefore the easiest to wear – this faux leather trench coat is such a beautifully muted stone hue that it’ll go with just about everything you own. Wear it belted at the waist over a casual weekend look, or open and belt-less atop a slim-fit black midi and heels as soon as dinner dates are allowed again.
