The three goalkeepers on Arsenal’s radar amid Bernd Leno exit rumours

Arsenal may have only signed a new goalkeeper this summer but they are already lining up other options between the sticks as Bernd Leno is being linked with a January exit.

Leno has lost his place in goal since the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United during the transfer window, with the Englishman impressing in his early outings for the Gunners.

The German ‘keeper has made exactly 100 appearances for Arsenal since arriving from Bayer Leverksuen in 2018, but it looks like he may struggle to add to that tally if Ramsdale keeps up his fine form.

The 29-year-old is not happy about being out of the first team, saying that he was not told why he found himself on the substitutes’ bench.

‘There was no clear reason why I was out, just that it had nothing to do with my performance,’ Leno told German publication BILD.

‘[Arteta] is the trainer, he decides. It’s difficult for me, of course.’

The Germany international is unlikely to accept a role as back-up to Ramsdale and The Daily Mail report that a move to Inter Milan could come as early as the January transfer window.

Arsenal would then look to replace Leno with another goalkeeper who could provide competition to Ramsdale and the Mail suggest that three names are in the picture.

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and remains on the Arsenal radar, despite not playing since January due to a drug ban.

He is set to leave Ajax when his contract expires at the end of the season and will be available on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.

Barcelona’s Brazil international Neto is also under consideration, with the 32-year-old having made just 11 La Liga appearances since joining the club in 2019.

Closer to home, Brentford’s David Raya is the third option as he continues his impressive performances for the Bees since their arrival in the Premier League this year.

The 26-year-old has already kept three clean sheets this season, but is guaranteed regular football with Brentford and may not be keen to play second fiddle at Arsenal.
