The cosiest and most stylish blankets to keep warm while you work from home

On one hand, working from home has saved us a whole lot of time and money on our commutes. On the other hand, it’ll probably up our heating bills during the winter.

At the very least, your room temperature will be your own decision, and you can throw on some thermals if you wish.

With that in mind, it might be time to invest in a cosy blanket or throw to pop over yourself during the long days working from your couch.

We’ve rounded up plenty that you can buy online (given we’re not able to have a nose around shopping malls), from inexpensive yet functional to the more luxurious.

It all folds away into a handy bag (Picture: Ikea)

This Ikea Oddchild blanket is cheap and chips, and really one for people who prefer function over frou-frou.

It comes with a handy bag, so you can tuck it away in a drawer when you’re not working (a win for clutter haters) or take it out and about for picnics – once the weather gets warmer, that is.

Very autumnal (Picture: Green Curve)

These blankets are made by a women’s co-operative in India from an organic cotton and bamboo blend.

They’re then hand-printed in Surrey by the store’s owner with water-based non-toxic dyes. Although Green Curve makes products designed for babies, we recon adults who like to stay warm and be sustainable will like these too.

For those who like a bit of sparkle (Picture: Wilko)

Not all guides for adults need to be solely focused on muted tones and block colours.

This fluffy unicorn blanket is for those who want to release the inner child while working away at their desks.

(Picture: Piglet)

Although by no means cheap, these Piglet throws are great quality. The 100% french flax linen is designed to become softer with use, and stay lightly crinkled for a natural look.

Throw on your bed after you’ve cuddled up in it all day, and your room is instantly transformed into an interiors Insta playground.

Like a pumpkin spiced latte hug (Picture: Dunelm)

Teddy fur is still the ultimate when it comes to cosiness in the home. If full teddy bed sheets is a little too much for you, opt for a blanket instead.

This budget-friendly one from Dunelm comes in various colours – but this terra cotta hue is our autumnal favourite.

Keep some colour in your life over winter (Picture: The British Blanket Company)

Wool purists will love this British Blanket Company throw that’s just as soft as you’d imagine.

The online store is family-run by siblings in Bristol, and showcases the finest wool items from across the country. Proper homely stuff.

So chic (Picture: Made.com)

One for the interiors obsessives here.

Made.com are amazing for their geometric shapes and rich colours, with this blanket encompassing all those good things. This would look great slung over the back of a sofa.

Prints and textures (Picture: Oliver Bonas)

Although more of a bedspread, we just had to put in this velvet maximalist number from Oliver Bonas.

Handmade in India, this quilted throw will be oh-so-warm, but also last for years to come (and make all your mates jealous).

Not just for pups (Picture: Matalan)

Don’t just us here, but this blanket is *technically* for dogs.

However, we don’t see why a human can’t use it – it’s the right size and looks perfectly comfy. With crushed velvet being the fabric du jour, it should match something else in your home and be fit for you and pup to snuggle in.
