The Airbnbs in Portugal you *need* to stay at now the country has been added to the UK's 'green travel list' (from Lisbon to the Algarve)

Airbnbs in Portugal” was easily our most-Googled term of last weekend. Alongside “is a social hangover a thing” and “pub garden outfits that are warm and actually nice,” obviously. Yep: after Portugal was added to England’s “green travel list” on Friday evening – with the likes of Iceland, Israel, Australia and Gibraltar in tow – we’ve been dreaming of the long weekends in Lisbon/fortnights on the Algarve that are now *actually* feasible. As such, we’re pretty well placed to reveal the best Airbnbs in Portugal that still have availability this summer, in case you fancy booking. Seriously – we scrolled through a tonne.

Before you commit, let’s get one thing straight: what does the “green list” actually mean? Well, if you’re returning from one of twelve green list destinations after 17 May, you won’t need to quarantine upon return. You’ll need a pre-departure test at your destination, sure – and PCR testing on (or before) day two after your return to the UK. But that’s kind of it… no hotel quarantine and no self-isolation.

Of course, you might not feel comfortable heading abroad this summer, even if we have been given the go-ahead by BoJo. And that’s OK. There are plenty of holiday cottages in the UK and weekend break destinations just a couple of hours’ drive from London that will serve up an equally-as-relaxing holiday. And which won’t require you to pay £50+ for a Coronavirus test on return and departure. But, if you are tempted to head abroad, we really don’t blame you.

We’ve found a plethora of chic and stylish Airbnbs in Portugal’s most sought-after holiday destinations, from Lisbon (don’t leave without devouring at least five custard tarts from Pastéis de Belém and plenty of cocktails at Pharmácia Restaurant) to Faro and the increasingly popular city of Porto.

There’s a gorgeous nine-guest apartment in Lisbon’s Baixa district which is flooded with light and boasts three bedrooms and three bathrooms (plus a hell of an Instagram-worthy interior) or a luxury twelve-person property with ocean views and a rooftop pool in Faro. So go on – have a browse. Even if you’re not planning on jetting off this summer.
