Teen spirit in suburbia: Lauren Tepfer’s evocative images – in pictures

‘I soon realised that to make work that I felt good about, I had to make things that were reflective of where I was in my life. So I turned my camera inwards and began shooting myself, my small town, my friends, family, everything that felt so minuscule and unimportant to me. It all suddenly flourished into completely different things. Things that had been there but I hadn’t seen. I was creating a new narrative, one that burst with suburban beauty. What I ended up with were careful, thoughtful, authentic images clearly reflecting the person I was’
