Super Mario 3D All-Stars is new UK number one – Games charts 19 September

The Nintendo Switch has earned itself another UK number one as Super Mario 3D All-Stars knocks Marvel’s Avengers from the top spot.

Being a games as a service title, it’ll be a long time before it’s clear whether Marvel’s Avengers has been a success or not but it’s only lasted two weeks at the top of the retail charts, before being ousted by Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

That’s no surprise though, given the fact that Nintendo’s game will only be on sale for six months and was already one of the best-selling games of the year before it was even released.

Rather less successful, but still making the top 10, were two new sports titles, with WWE 2K Battlegrounds at number six and this year’s PES at number nine. Although the former is a cartoonish stand-in for the usual yearly sequel and the latter is just a minor update, as Konami prepares for the next gen.
