Subway launches new vegan ‘chicken’ sub and cookie

Planning on doing Veganuary? Boy, have we got good news for you.

Subway has just unveiled two tasty-looking additions to its plant-based menu for 2021 – a vegan ‘T.L.C.’ (Tastes Like Chicken) sandwich, and a vegan double chocolate cookie.

The vegan ‘chicken’ in the T.L.C Sub is made from soy-based protein, and supposedly tastes exactly like Subway’s roast chicken breast strips thanks to a bespoke recipe.

You can opt to add slices of vegan cheese to your sandwich, too.

‘Our new plant-based T.L.C. Sub will delight both our vegan and non-vegan fans – we’ve created a product that tastes so much like our flavour-full chicken breast strips, guests will be surprised it’s not the real thing,’ said Angelina Gosal, head of marketing UK & Ireland at Subway.

‘With our new additions, we now have one of the biggest and tastiest plant-based menus on the high street, to offer you even more choice.’

And thankfully, as no Subway order is complete without a gooey cookie, its new vegan version sounds just as delicious.

The plant-based treat is designed to replicate the flavour of Subway’s original double chocolate cookie, and can be ordered as a single cookie, as part of a pack of three or in a 12-cookie sharing box.

Now vegans can get their sugar fix at Subway, too (Picture: Subway)

The new vegan additions are in restaurants from today, and as well as popping to your local Subway to order them, you can also order and collect via the Subway app or have them delivered to your door via Just Eat, Uber Eats or Deliveroo.
