In news that will be surprising to no one currently hunting down a place to live, the property market remains a bleak and miserable place.

If you don’t fancy renting a tiny and overpriced studio flat, whether it’s one without a bed or a place with a strange wooden ladder/sink/table structure, never fear – for you can now get the same experience while getting on the property ladder.

Behold a flat in Bristol that’s up for sale for the bargain price of £140,000.

Yes, it’s a studio flat. No, there’s not a load of room for activities.

But you do get the endless fun of having a bed suspended over the sofa, which sits right next to the kitchen sink.

That means you can watch TV and laze on the sofa, then clamber up to bed when you’re tired – no more walking between different rooms.

If you get peckish in the night, you could probably grab a snack from the cupboards without leaving your bed – if you made some sort of grabber stick contraption.

There doesn’t appear to be a ladder up to the bed, so you may need to provide your own. Or perhaps you’re very good at jumping.

The property, which is marketed as a one-bed, is on Baldwin Street in Bristol’s city centre, and has already had £20,000 knocked off the asking price since it went on sale in January.

Estate agents Connells – selling the flat via Zoopla – said: ‘A truly unique opportunity to own a modern studio apartment in the heart of Bristol city centre.

‘The property is perfectly positioned amongst some of Bristol’s most celebrated restaurants, bars and local attractions, for example the harbourside docks, the ss Great Britain, the Hippodrome Theatre and Arnolfini Art Gallery.

‘This property boasts a contemporary decor; with white high-gloss kitchen units and quality integrated appliances, a well-proportioned and modern shower room, as well as an open plan and incredibly low-maintenance living space.

But there is a bathroom, at least (Picture: Connells)

‘A perfect starter property for a first-time buyer, a promising investment for buy-to-let purchasers, or an ideal home for professionals.’

They’re not wrong – the flat is indeed ‘contemporary’, as it’s extremely representative of this strange moment in time.

At least Londoners can take solace in the knowledge that their city isn’t the only one home to some creative real estate.

Plus, if you’ve always longed for bunk beds, this could be just the place for you.
